USES
1. Standard screw driver:

This is used for general work some
screw drivers of standard neck are made with stronger shank and heavy duty
handles and used for heavy duety work.
2. Cabinet screw driver:-

The handle of this screw drive is made
flat on two sides to get an extra grip.

shank:-

The
shank of this screw driver is made square so
that wrench can be used for turning the shank to get a greater force.
4. Flat blade screw driver (London
pattern):-

The shank of this screw drive is made out of a
flat strip and in the shape of a blade to make it longer than the screw slot so
thata greater driving force force can be applied. This is mostly used by
carpenter’s for driving wood screws.
5. Electricians Screw driver:-

This
screw driver is like a standard screw driver but has a longer shank and it is
insulated. It is very useful for driving small screw in electrical appliances.
6. Motor Mechanic screw driver:-

This
screw driver has a short shank and handle and is used where there is limited
space. This shank is flat. It is mostly used by motor mechanics.
7. Off set screw driver:-

This
screw driver has no handle. It is usually forced out of an octagonal bar and bent on both sides at 90 in opposite direction.
Both sides have point that means screw driver flats one of the points is in
line with the shank while the other is at 90°. It is used for driving screw which
cannot be reached by the straight shank screw driver.
8. Phillips screw driver:-

The tip of
this screw driver has cross shaped slots . It figs into the slots of Phillips
head screws. This type of screw driver has better grip and prevents damage to
the screw head.
9.Ratchet screw driver:-

Ratchet type of screw drivers are
mostly used in production work for fast motion while tightening and loosening
screw.

This
screw driver has a very short shank and handle and used
where there is limited space mostly by electricians and motor mechanics.
11. Watch maker’s screw driver:-

These are small fully
metallic screw drivers made in sets of four or six. These are used by watch and
instrument repairers.
MATERIAL OF SCREW DRIVER:-
Screw drivers are made
of high carbon tool steel ot chrome-Vanadium steel. The tips are hardened and
tempered to about 52 HRC. (HRC- Hardened Rockwell c-scale)
SIZE OF SCREW DRIVER:-
The length of the shank is
taken as the size of the screw driver. The size of the point depends on the
size of the screw for which it is to be used
CARE OF SCREW DRIVER’S:-
1. The screw driver should not be used
as a lever for opening lids of containers.
2. Do not use the screw driver as a pin
punch.
3. Use the right size screw driver for
each screw.
4. Do not try to loosen or tighten the
screws while holding job in the plam.
5. Do not use the screw driver with oily
hands.
